The Journey

I have had the question put to me several times in the last few years as I have walked through my journey of returning to school… “Why?” Followed by.. “I could never go back to school; it was too hard the first time.” or “Good for you!” etc.

It has been a journey and I have enjoyed 99.9% of it. It is challenging and it does make my brain hurt but growth is uncomfortable or so I have always been told. It certainly seems to be my experience. I have 2 semesters left and I will be walking across the stage once more for my Bachelor’s degree. I received my Associates last year and it was a thrill. I have been inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society, Phi Theta Kappa and The Honors Society. Hard work has been worth all of it and my goal is to graduate Summa Cum Laude. So we shall see what happens between now and then. I am excited and honored to be a student at University of Texas @ Tyler and I can’t wait to see what life has waiting for me on the other side. But in the meantime.. I am enjoying my journey. And I am blessed beyond words to have those who have supported me through this walk and saw me through when I had doubt… and there have been times when I wanted to quit! Thank you!! I love you beyond measure!! ❤

I found this wonderful poem over at my wonderful bloggy friend Michelle Terry aka MammMickTerry She ROCKS!! 😘

The Journey

by Mary Oliver

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice –
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do –
determined to save
the only life you could save.

  1. Dear friend,
You continue to amaze and inspire me. You are always working, moving…journeying…toward your next goal or endeavor.
It feels like something big and beautiful is around the corner for you – 99.9% sure of it. Xoxoxo

    • Thanks so much Kellie. It has been rewarding most of the time but there have been challenges like this semester. I ended up dropping all 3 classes (long story) but I am already enrolled for Spring. I am still only 2 semesters away from graduating but it will be next Fall rather than May and that’s ok. I have stayed busy and I am looking forward to getting back into class come Jan. Hope you are well. Thank you so much for stopping by! 😉
