“What color are the lights?” I asked.

“Oh! They are all colors!! Red, blue, green and gold!” Tammy exclaimed!

“And the people?” I urged

“Oh my goodness! There are people everywhere I look!”

“Are you glad we came now?” I smiled as I took her arm and we walked up 5th Avenue.

“So glad!” Her voice vibrated with excitement.

Tammy had been by my side since the accident but had never seen New York. It was wonderful to hear about it through HER eyes….

  1. Well-imagined and heart-warming, Courtney. I like the way you make sure we know she hasn’t been blind from birth by telling us of the accident. And your story is great advice for living a happy life – make the best of everything, and show thankfulness to those you love.

    • When she was trying to describe the tall buildings. She put her hand under the blind girl’s hand and raised it high. It was a physical metaphor. Thank you so much for coming by Liz! 😊
