Winter Tears

“MOM!”

“What is it?” mom asked.

“Mom, there is something wrong with the Birch tree!”

“Oh no, what’s wrong with it?” Mom comes over and looks out the window with her daughter and sees clear liquid dripping from the bare branches and grins.

Seeing no humor in the situation, Dalyn starts to tear up. The tree was oozing from every twig.

Wiping a tear away from her daughter’s cheek she says, “There is nothing wrong with your tree sweetheart. That is what it does when it is sad. It misses the warm summer weather. All will be well in the spring.”

This is my entry for Friday Fictioneers December 6, 2017 hosted by our lovely Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. It is a wonderful challenge. Please follow the link below to give it a try!! 🙂

  1. SWEET response from mom and understandable confusion and concern on daughter’s part. I’m with the birch tree – just waiting for Spring. When I try and take a walk in the winter here in NE, my eyes water from the cold and my eyelashes freeze into icicles. Always a short walk. ;-0

  3. One of the advantages of being a retired blogger is that I will have more time to visit and comment on my friends’ blogs. I am happy to report that THE TREES ARE NO LONGER SAD! All over town flowering trees are in their glory (their way of expressing JOY).

I have the posts for other blogs I follow arrive weekly, but I’ve just changed the setting to receive your posts “instantly.” The only other person I do that for is Al Forbes. Now I just hope you’ll be inspired to post more frequently!

Just as you’ve always been there for me, I’ll now always be there for you.

    • Aww thanks John!! I promise to post more often over the summer. During the school year, my time is consumed with studying. I am almost done with my Bachelor’s degree! YAH! I will have more time now that the semester is over….. Thank you so much for the follow! 😍
