The Sound of Silence

So I pulled up my email and realized AFTER I wrote the story for the picture prompt, I was on the wrong week. But I decided to post it anyway even though it was last weeks (June 12th) picture. (sorry Rochelle)

The Sound of Silence

The stillness was deafening. NO noise can be rather loud when subliminal life sounds are all around you all the time.
She could hear her own breath and heart beating after the loss of electricity silenced the house.
“Do you hear that?” she asked the cat.
“Oh goodness, I’m sorry Prissy! I don’t know why I am asking you. I’m just a silly old woman being paranoid again.” Clarice laughed at herself as she stood from the table and walked to the window.
“Hear what?” someone said.
Clarice jerked her head around only to see the green-eyed kitty looking back at her.

This was written for Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. If you would like to play along, please follow the prompt below and give it a try!! She has a new one this week! 🙂
